A rare, pre-facelift six-cylinder W114 250 that will make a superb restoration project.
Finished in Horizon Blue with navy blue MB Tex, automatic transmission and power steering.
This 250 was first supplied to a Mr Lane of Radstock, Somerset in June of 1971. It is a UK delivered, RHD example. The last owner over 35 years, the car was his pride and joy.
Has all original books, manuals and datacard, plus some receipts and previous MOTs.
The car has seen little use over the last few years due to the last owner’s ill health.
The body is tidy and the paint has a lovely patina. The paint on the offside front wing is flaking but the wing is solid. Obviously would need a respray to be perfect.
All the chrome, lights and glass are in superb condition.
The interior is in exceptional original condition throughout, which is so rare to find today. The seats, carpet and dashboard are all immaculate.
The engine starts and runs and has recently been fitted with a new distributor and exhaust system. From our brief drive, the automatic gearbox works perfectly – we suspect it has been rebuilt as there is a sticker from an automatic transmission specialist on the windscreen.
While the underbody is very solid and original in many of the traditional areas of corrosion for this model, work will be required on the sills and some areas of the floors. All body panels for these areas are readily available.
Mechanically the car will need some recommissioning as it been little used – tyres, brakes, service etc.
Being 1971 this car is ULEZ, MOT and tax exempt.
While the four-cylinder W115 models are more plentiful, the six-cylinder W114 is a significantly nicer and more desirable car. This very original example in lovely period colours will be a very rewarding project and make a beautiful car.
