An immaculate, low-mileage W123 280E direct from the ‘Danz Benz’ collection.
This 280E was built and lived for most of its life in South Africa, where it was not subject the bad weather and salted roads that dissolved most of these cars in the UK. As a result the body is in exceptional condition with gleaming paintwork and a completely corrosion-free underside. And that is a rare thing when it comes to 123s.
Finished in Astral Silver with Mushroom leather interior, this 280E has a 4-speed manual gearbox, factory air conditioning, cruise control, factory sump guard and electric windows, along with ‘Baroque’ alloy wheels.
There is a considerable history file including all the original books and manuals and bills for recent renovation work. This work includes a new head gasket, exhaust system, refurbished alloy wheels with new Michelin tyres, new Bilstein dampers and much more.
The bodywork is, as previously mentioned, in superb order, free from any damage or corrosion. The interior retains its original leather is fantastic condition, there are no dash cracks and the carpets are protected by new ribbed over mats. The original Becker stereo remains and works well.
Only 105,114 km, which equates to only 65,315 miles from new.
On the road it drives beautifully, with excellent performance and a lovely crisp gear change.
Registered as a historic vehicle so ULEZ, tax and MoT free, however the car has a current MoT with no advisories anyway.
Ideal for the collector looking for a superb example, or would be ideal for historic rallies as with the manual gearbox, 280 engine and factory sump guard it is in the ideal specification.
