A truly remarkable W123, being a 280E with nearly every available optional extra specified from new. What’s more, the car is unrestored, highly original and completely corrosion-free.

 

This is a car with an interesting life too. It was ordered new in Saudi Arabia, yet in right-hand drive, and evidently spent time in Kuwait. It is said to have been owned by a doctor who then emigrated to Ontario, Canada, taking the car with him.

Fast forward several decades and the right-drive W123 was spotted by a British ex-pat living in Canada, who bought it and brought it to the UK.

 

Finished in Silver Blue metallic with a black interior, this W123 was equipped with the biggest engine available – the 2.8-litre 185bhp six – coupled to an automatic gearbox.

The specification is quite incredible; it has leather upholstery, air conditioning, cruise control, ABS, self-levelling rear suspension, Becker Mexico, two-tone horn, headlamp wash/wipe, alloy wheels, electric windows and sunroof and rear headrests. It even has a tandem rear view mirror (931), something we have never seen before. It is highly unusual to find a W123 saloon with this level of optional equipment.

 

These days it is also highly unusual to find a W123 with absolutely no corrosion or previous repair - the reason we sell so few - yet the body on this car is incredible. Underneath it is absolutely rust free, even all the original brake, fuel and self-levelling lines don’t have even a hint of corrosion. We simply could not believe the condition of this W123 underneath.

 

The paintwork is generally very good with only a few small marks up close; the brightwork and bumpers are very good; the interior is very nice, retaining all its original leather, which has a beautiful patina. The factory-fit Becker is all working, as does the cruise control.

Just 69k KM are recorded and we believe that to be correct given the condition of the car.

 

We have serviced the car and amongst other work fitted new suspension spheres and a new exhaust silencer. The air conditioning has been serviced and is lovely and cold. Recent MoT.

 

This 280E is a rare find in right-hand drive with such an amazing specification and rust-free body, they do not come along every day.
