The perfect G-Wagen project. This ’85 W460 230GE is one owner from new and completely original.
Finished in Cypress Green metallic with cream cloth, with factory tow bar, two-piece rear bumper, headlamp guards, power steering, rev counter and an occasional seat in the boot.
The car was when new, a demonstrator for Woking Motors of Walton-on-Thames - it still has its demonstrator key tag. Then was purchased by a husband and wife who have kept it until this year.
This G-Wagen is completely untouched from new. It is 100% original paint – no repairs or repaints – and still has its original dealer plates, rear window sticker and Blaupunkt stereo.
Aside from being completely original, the body and chassis are also incredibly good. It has never been welded. The chassis and body are excellent, with the only significant area of corrosion being under the rear tail lights where all G-Wagens suffer. The rest of the body is incredibly solid and original with no corrosion to the sills, floors, doors or tailgate. See the photos.
The interior is in generally good order with just some fabric wear to the driver’s seat.
Twenty years ago the G was parked up. It has not been started or driven since. As a result the engine is stuck. The car rolls easily for loading purposes.
If you’re looking for an early G-Wagen to restore, it would be hard to find a better candidate.
