A fantastic opportunity for the enthusiast to restore the most desirable of the W126 saloons; the 560SEL.

This 560 is only a three-owner car – last owner 12 years – with just 105k miles on the odometer.

First registered in August ’86, it is finished in Smoke Silver with rare and fabulous red leather interior. It has the usual high 560 specification with air conditioning, self-levelling, electric front and rear seats, seat memory and two-tone horn.

This 560 also has the ‘822 code – Output increase – meaning it is the most powerful 300BHP version.

The car is running and driving and has been in regular use until recently. The engine runs well with excellent oil pressure and the gearbox changes correctly.

The underside is very solid, thanks to previous rust-proofing and living in London away from salt, however the body and paintwork will require attention, particularly to the shelf under the rear screen that has corroded in typical W126 fashion. The car still has its original flared 560 front wings, which are hard to find.

The interior is largely in decent condition, as the photos show, and still retains the original rear foot rests, over-mats and Becker Mexico radio.

HPI clear, with its owner’s manual and part history.

In recent years it has the suspension spheres replaced, the radiator replaced and last year for the MoT we fitted a new rear caliper along with rear pads and discs and an ABS sensor, along with new cam cover gaskets and breather pipes.

You could put this car on the road with a weekend’s work but we feel it deserves bringing back to its former glory.

A perfect W126 project as it is a 560 with low owners and sensible miles and a very original car.
