A very original 500SL finished in rare Anthracite metallic with Mushroom trim. 101k miles with a good history and significant recent expenditure.

Following its launch in late ’89, the new R129 SL became the hottest thing in town and waiting lists soon formed, such was the demand, despite a price tag of around £80k. A 300 and a 300 24-valve were available, but the 500 was the king of the hill, boasting 320 horsepower.

This ’91 500 was collected from the factory by its first owner – you can imagine how exciting that must have been! They specified it in very attractive but rarely seen Anthracite metallic contrasted by Mushroom leather trim. Its equipment includes adaptive damping, driver’s airbag, rear seats, heated seats, memory seats and air conditioning.

After going through a few owners in the 90s, it was sold as a Signiture Used Car by Mercedes dealers, Cross Keys of Taunton, in 2001 to a Mr Nash. Nash kept the car over 20 years until his death before passing briefly into the name of his wife to enable sale. There has been one keeper since 2022 who drove and enjoyed the car, spending around £8000 on it to keep it in good mechanical order.

Comes with all original books and manuals and 18 stamps in the service book. HPI clear and with two keys.

A very original car, retaining all its early features, including two-tone paintwork, orange indicators and 15-hole wheels.

As the photos show, a very smart presentable car with a few minor blemishes up close commensurate with its 34 years.

Similarly, the interior is smart and tidy and benefits from a pair of desirable Coco mats. Original hard top is still with the car.

An unmolested example of an early 129 500, with sensible miles, a good history and recent expenditure. Great value.
