A superb R129 SL600 in Azurite Blue with grey leather that was in the hands of one lady owner for most of its life. Only 82k miles backed up by a full service history.

 

The SL600 was always a rare model. Costing in excess of £100k, over £20k more than the SL500 in ‘97, it was for buyers who didn’t count the cost but wanted the biggest, fastest and most prestigious. And with approaching 400bhp coupled to a 5-speed automatic, it was an extremely rapid drop-top GT.

 

Post ’96 V12s are rare, but they are considerably more desirable than pre 96 models as they have the five-speed automatic, coil-on-plug ignition, but most importantly revised wiring harnesses that do not biodegrade unlike the earlier cars.

 

First registered in September 1997 to MB UK in Milton Keynes, it was briefly registered to a gentleman in Scotland before passing to the dealer principle of Philip Jenkins MB, Cardiff, who registered it in his wife’s name. At two years old the car was sold by Philip Jenkins MB to a Mr Reeve. Sadly, Reeve knew he was ill but was determined that his wife should have a good car after he passed. The car remained in his wife’s ownership for the next 22 years.

 

When we acquired the car a couple of years ago we carried out extensive works on the car including a complete subframe out rear suspension refurbishment. The desirable AMG wheels have been refurbished and wear new matching Continental tyres. The original wood/leather steering wheel has also been completely refurbished.

There is a full stainless steel exhaust system that sounds fantastic without being obtrusive. The hood was replaced with a complete new hood by Mercedes when in Mrs Reeve’s ownership.

 

All original books and manuals, two remote keys and a full service history. Looked after by ourselves for the last two years.

 

The private registration plate on the car (which has been for years) comes with the car.

 

In lovely condition throughout and drives beautifully with effortless performance. What a great looking, rare SL.
