This incredible E55 AMG is in what can only be described as factory fresh condition, and has only covered 38k miles from new with full service history.
The W210 E55 AMG represented a new direction for fast Mercedes saloons. Now with AMG wholly on board with MB, its creations were no longer specialist niche conversions for wealthy connoisseurs, but factory built performance models available straight off the showroom floor. Yet they remained true to the Mercedes tradition of building an ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’ performance car – brutally fast yet equally comfortable on the autobahn.
While E55s sold very well, the W210’s propensity for corrosion has meant finding an excellent example is extremely difficult, plus most are high mileage.
All of the above makes this car quite remarkable. This facelift E55 was sold new in Japan in 2001 and brought to the UK this year. Thanks to Japan’s kind climate and salt free roads this E55 is in utterly immaculate condition without a trace of corrosion. The underside still looks like it just rolled off the production line.
The car has evidently been garaged from new too as there is zero UV damage either.
The paintwork is unmarked, as are the wheels. Inside the seats are still satin and there is no fading to the woodwork. It even still smells new. Quite simply, this must be the best W210 E55 available.
The car comes with all its original books, two keys and a full service history. Despite having only covered 38k miles, it has been serviced 20 times, on average every year since it was new despite there only being 1000 miles between services on some occasions.
The specification of this car is comprehensive to say the least. It has electric/heated/memory/orthopaedic front seats plus heated rear seats too. Along with the usual climate control and cruise control, it also has an electric rear roller blind, glass sunroof and xenon headlights. The factory Comand system (which is country specific) has been replaced with a completely up-to-date Dynavin that offers DAB radio, Bluetooth, hands-free, sat-nav and much more.
Eagle-eyed aficionados will note the car has a genuine AMG wood gear selector – a desirable part in its own right – plus upgraded wood door pulls front and rear.
Another interesting aspect of this car is that it is Euro 4 compliant, which is vanishingly rare on a W210, meaning it complies with ULEZ regulations and other clean air zones.
As you might expect with such low miles and careful servicing this E55 drives incredibly well. They are seriously fast cars but so refined at the same time and this one feels so fresh.
These early E55s are becoming rather collectable now and this must be one of the best in existence. It must be seen to be believed.
