A beautiful C55 AMG in rare black/black with just 43k miles from new.

 

The C55 AMG is a rare bird among ‘modern’ AMGs. Just 4000 where made worldwide within a fairly short production window towards the latter half of the W203’s life. Replacing the C32, its formula was simple and effective and the essence of what AMG excelled in – shoehorning a AMG tuned 5.5-litre V8 into MB’s smallest saloon. Actually it wasn’t as simple as it sounds because the whole nose of the car had to be lengthened, but the 367BHP and 376lb/ft endowed the C with a mighty punch, accelerating to 62mph in 4.7 seconds or indeed at any speed without effort.

 

This 2006 example finished in Obsidian Black with black leather was sold new in Japan and imported into the UK in 2023. It has the usual high specification with climate control, electric/memory seats, auto xenon headlamps, folding mirrors and so on. Full spec list below.

 

Coming from Japan where cars live in a much kinder climate without road salt and with considerably stricter tests, this C55 is in incredible condition. The bodywork is unmarked and the interior is immaculate. The wheels are perfect and wear matching Bridgestone tyres all round.

The underside is in incredible condition and zero corrosion.

 

With just 43k miles from new it is no surprise that this AMG drives beautifully. It is, of course, very fast, but it is also very refined and subtle.

 

The COMAND system has been replaced with an up to date Dynavin unit that features DAB radio, Bluetooth hands-free, music streaming, touch-screen sat nav and more.
