Rare 5.5-litre UK-supplied E500 Sport. One owner from new and FMBSH

Model: W211 E500 (5.5) Sport
Exterior Colour: Brilliant Silver
Interior Colour: Black Leather
This is a rare car; a one owner, last of the line W211 E500 Sport with full MB history and almost all options.
While the E500 model had been available since the start of the W211 in 2002, as part of the 2006 facelift the engine was replaced with a new 5.5-litre unit developing 388bhp. There were many other improvements, not least replacing the SBC braking system with considerably more dependable conventional brakes.
Overseas this revised model was renamed the E550, but in the UK it retained its E500 badge.
Despite not being an AMG car, this was a seriously fast car with 60mph coming up in 5 seconds and 100mph in less than 12. But it covered ground without fuss, loud exhausts or a spine-jarring ride, and in spirit is very similar to the W124 E500.
This example is one of the last built and registered in 2009. It’s finished in Brilliant Silver with black leather and features an incredible specification. This includes AMG styling and wheels, multi-contour seats, heated and cooled seats up front and heated seats in the rear, rear multi-media screen and full glass panoramic sunroof.
This car has had just one owner. He bought it, preregistered, from Mercedes Chelsea just before the new W212 model came out.
With the exception of a few small services, this car has been solely looked after by the Mercedes main dealer with a ‘money no object’ regard to looking after it – there is every bill for service and repair from new, and they total around £35,000.
In 2023 (at 144k miles), nearly £14,000 was spent with Mercedes Gatwick having all the air suspension and exhaust system replaced, refurbishing the wheels and fitting new Continental tyres.
As the photos show, this car is in very nice condition, particularly for its mileage. There are a few minor blemishes up close as you would expect but overall it’s a very sharp car. Similarly, inside the leather shows almost no wear, original floor mats, cold A/C.
Drives very nicely indeed with a lovely smooth ride on its Airmatic suspension (can be stiffened up in two stages) and tons of performance.
HPI clear, two keys and all records.
In summary, a very rare, facelift E500, one owner and incredible service records and spec.
