Model: W460 300GD LWB 4-speed

Interior Colour: Tan Cloth

This gorgeous W460 300GD finished in dark green over tan cloth is wonderfully original having had one owner for over 25 years and lovingly maintained.

Supplied new by Cloverleaf Cars of Hampshire in the summer of 1982, this early G-Wagen was specified with Fir Green paintwork with tan cloth trim, bronze tinted glass, factory towbar and front towing hitch, headlamp washers and grills, single piece rear door and head rests. It’s powered by the legendary OM617, 5-cylinder naturally aspirated 3-litre diesel, driving through a 4-speed manual gearbox.

Throughout the 80s servicing was carried out exclusively by the supplying dealer, Cloverleaf, totally an impressive 16 stamps between ’82 and ’90. In July of 1990 the G was bought by a Mr B Roughton with 68k miles on the clock. Mr Roughton then used it for his business up until 1995, taking the mileage up to 128k. Thereafter, he used the car purely for pleasure and the mileage increased slowly to the 146,449 it shows today.

Mr Roughton, who evidently had a background with the RAF (the G even wore the numberplate RAF 668 for much of his ownership), meticulously maintained the vehicle during his near three decade ownership, and this is borne out in the history file, which contains every bill and receipt from his ownership, plus notes on oils, part numbers and articles on G-Wagens. He also notes that the vehicle had never been used off road.

Also included in the file are all old MoT certififates since 1991, the datacard, a dating letter from MB and all original books and manuals. Rarely do you get such a detailed and comprehensive history with a W460.

It’s certainly evident that Mr Roughton garaged this car. This is unrestored G, yet the body is in excellent condition on top and underneath. There is no evidence of previous repairs underneath, and the paintwork is very tidy. Similarly, the interior is in unusually excellent condition with its original cloth seats and rubber floor matting. These early Gs are delightfully utilitarian. A pair of green all-weather front seat covers also come with it.

The wheels have just been refurbished and wear matching, recent all-terrain tyres.

Eligible for Historic tax class immediately, making it road tax, MoT and ULEZ exempt.

Will be supplied with 12 months MoT and serviced on point of sale. The, rather appropriate, private number plate it wears will be included too.

A rare opportunity to buy an early G-Wagen in great colours that’s been beautifully preserved in original condition.
